EMDR for Anxiety
Your worry doesn’t have to run the show.
Settle your nervous system and feel lighter with our science-backed method of EMDR.
What is anxiety, really?
Anxiety isn’t only about “worrying too much.” It’s your nervous system stuck in overdrive, constantly scanning for what might go wrong, even when you’re safe.
Anxiety doesn’t just live in your mind, it shows up in your chest, your shoulders, your breath. It’s the tight feeling that won’t go away and the sense that you’re never fully at ease.
You might feel this as:
Racing thoughts you can’t shut off
A tight chest or stomach knots
Restlessness, overthinking, or dread
Trouble sleeping or relaxing, even when you’re exhausted
Avoiding people, places, or tasks that feel overwhelming
These aren’t overreactions. They’re your nervous system trying to keep you safe.
Your mind knows it shouldn’t feel this hard. But your body hasn’t gotten the message yet. That’s where EMDR comes in.
If you’ve tried talk therapy but still feel stuck, EMDR can offer a different kind of relief.
How EMDR helps anxiety
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain and body finish processing what’s keeping you stuck in worry or overwhelm. Using simple, gentle, research-backed techniques like tapping, EMDR gives your system a chance to settle, without needing to talk it all out.
Our sessions use bilateral stimulation (simple tapping) to help your nervous system exit fight, flight or freeze mode, release old fears stored in your body, and create new pathways for calm, confidence, and clarity.
EMDR can help with many forms of anxiety, including:
Generalized worry and overthinking
Social anxiety and fear of judgment
Health anxiety or panic about the future
Work, school, or performance-related stress
Phobias or specific fears that hold you back
You don’t have to “think your way out” of anxiety. EMDR helps your body feel safe enough to let go.
All our EMDR sessions are online and fully anonymous.
What to expect in a session
We believe real relief starts with feeling safe. Every EMDR session is designed to respect your limits and calm your system gently, step by step.
1. We create safety and trust.
You don’t have to prepare anything or explain everything. Just arrive as you are, and we’ll guide you through each part, always at your pace.
2. We teach simple grounding tools.
Before any processing begins, you’ll learn how to breathe, relax, and settle your body. These techniques help you stay present and feel in control.
3. We begin gentle EMDR.
When you’re ready, we use short rounds of bilateral tapping while you hold a thought, feeling, or worry in mind. No need to speak it out loud.
4. Your mind and body do the work.
You don’t have to talk through your anxiety in detail. Just notice what shifts, jot it down if you’d like, and allow your brain to naturally process and release what’s stuck.
5. We close every session with calm.
Each session wraps up with grounding, so you leave feeling steady and safe, not stirred up. We aim to get your nervous system back to a calm place before you sign off.
One of the best parts of EMDR is that you never have to relive or retell your entire story. You can process privately, with full support and guidance every step of the way.
Your camera stays on for your therapist only, no one else is in your session space. If you’re ready to breathe a little easier, we’re here when you are.
